For starters I got the kids out of the house and to school (actually the before-care program) on-time. No big fights over breakfast - which isn't always easy to do with my kids, but I guess is a lot easier when you offer to give them Lucky Charms instead of plain old Cheerios.
Then I got to spend over $200 at Home Depot, which doesn't sound like fun, but I got some things that I really, really needed - like weather stripping and door moldings - which will keep heating costs down at my rental properties. But the best thing about it was that I went at 9am and there wasn't a lot of people there so I didn't have to fight for parking or to get help from an employee.
I followed that up with spending some quality time with my Big Brother Diego while he helped get me off of some very expensive charges in Newark Municipal Court. I mean aside from the actual costs of a hiring a lawyer that doesn't have to answer to Mom at Sunday Dinner, I also save a small fortune in sur-charges and extra care insurance costs that would have resulted in the speeding ticket I was almost sure to get. Seriously if you ever need a good lawyer for any issues in Newark please let me know and I'll hook you up with him.
Then I ended up grabbing a couple of dogs from the brand spanking new JJ's Hot Dog Truck right there on Bloomfield Ave. in front of Branch Brook Park. JJ's is a treat within itself, but helping to christen a new hot dog truck just takes the experience up 2 or tree (3) notches.
After that it was on to a law office in Roseland for my first big closing since I've been with Coldwell Banker. I've been dealing with the same buyer since the beginning of July and all my hard work and persistence has paid off nicely I must say. And honestly the best part about the whole experience is not just that I'm bringing a great family into my home town - but that they're actually going to be my new neighbors. I mean imagine if you actually got to pick your neighbors...and get paid for it!!! How cool is that?
From there I got to pick up the kids, spend some quality time with them at home doing homework and what-not before taking them to Karate class. We wrapped that up with going home to Wifey, having dinner, and a fight-free bed-time. Again, that's not always an easy thing to do with my kids so I have to appreciate it when it comes along.
Spent the bulk of my night out at a bar with my co-workers celebrating 2 birthdays and really getting to know the people I spend a good deal of time with...not quite the 2nd family I had at New York Life, but hopefully approaching that soon. It was the first time I was invited out - so I guess it helps when you actually make a SALE.
And to top off the whole day I just took Rocky out for a nice walk and it didn't end up with me having to pick up his poop.
Not sure what tomorrow brings, but I find it hard to believe it can top the day I've just had. Then again maybe I'll wake up 30 pounds lighter in a world where the Dallas Cowboys are 6 and 1, instead of 1 and 6. Because at the end of the day, no matter what else happens, it really all comes down to FOOTBALL!!!
